This year, on International Women’s Day, we honour the remarkable women shaping the fields of nutrition, science and wellness. Let us remind ourselves of the power of diversity, representation and breaking barriers in the industries that impact global health and well-being.

Marie Curie was a trailblazing scientist who discovered radium and polonium, pioneering research on radioactivity.
• The first woman to win a Noble Prize
• The only person to win in two scientific fields - her work led to radiotherapy, transforming cancer treatment.
• Curie’s resilience and breakthroughs continue to inspire women in science, healthcare and wellness.

Flossie Wong-Staal was a pioneering virologist and molecular biologist who was the first to clone and genetically map HIV, revolutionising AIDS research.
• Her work paved the way for diagnostic tests and treatments, saving millions of lives.
• She broke barriers for women in science, inspiring future generations in medicine, wellness and biotechnology.

Giulia Enders is a German microbiologist and author of “Gut” a bestselling book that simplifies the science of gut health.
• She has inspired many to recognise the gut’s vital role in overall wellness, promoting a holistic approach to nutrition and health.
• Her work empowers people to take better care of their digestive and mental health.

Dr Rhonda Patrick is a biochemist specialising in nutrition, ageing and wellness.
• She shared evidence-based insights on longevity and health optimisation through her podcast and research.
• Her work inspires people to make informed choices for a longer, healthier life.

Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill is an Olympic gold medallist in the heptathlon and a role model for women in sport.
• Her dedication to fitness and mental resilience has inspired many to prioritise wellness and pursue their athletic goals.

Deborah James was a cancer campaigner and advocate for early detection and research.

Kate Winslet is an acclaimed actress and advocate for body positivity and mental health.
• She inspired women to embrace self-acceptance and prioritise their well-being while challenging beauty standards.

Ella Mills is the founder of Deliciously Ella, a brand promoting plant-based nutrition and wellness.
• After overcoming health struggles with diet changes, she inspired millions through cookbooks, a blog and a food brand.
• Her work makes healthy, sustainable eating more accessible.

We would also like to take the time to celebrate our founder of Metabolics, Alison Astill-Smith. Her experience and passion for natural supplements and healthcare comes from her years of experience as a practising osteopath, having founded Metabolics in her search for high-quality, natural products in her work. Alison has been a qualified and practising Osteopath since 1981 and regularly gives seminars on a range of healthcare subjects to the wider practitioner community helping share her knowledge and experience.
