What is Metabolics Vitamin D for kids with Vitamin A?

Metabolics Vitamin D for Kids with Vitamin A is a blend of vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) and vitamin D (cholecalciferol) in avocado oil. The avocado oil is obtained by pressing the dehydrated sliced flesh of the avocado pear. It is non-GMO and non-irradiated, mild in taste and smell, and can easily be added to food.

Metabolics Vitamin D for Kids with Vitamin A is made without any emulsifiers or flavourings, common in other children’s supplements. It is just the active ingredients in avocado oil so you can be confident of what you’re giving your children and that it will be well absorbed.

Why is Vitamin D important for children?

Vitamin D is crucial for children for several reasons,

Bone Health

Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium and phosphorous, which are vital for the development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth. Adequate levels of vitamin D help to prevent things like rickets, which is a condition that leads to soft and weak bones in children.

Immune System Support

Vitamin D helps modulate the immune system, protecting children from infections and illness. A robust immune system is particularly important as they encounter various germs and viruses in environments such as nurseries and schools.

Growth and Development

Sufficient vitamin D levels support overall growth and development. It helps in the normal functioning of muscles and nerves, contributing to better physical performance and co-ordination.

Mood Regulation

Some studies suggest that vitamin D can influence mood and mental health potentially reducing the risk of mood disorders. This is important for children’s emotional well-being and cognitive function.

Given these benefits, ensuring children receive enough vitamin D through their diet including fatty fish, such as salmon, eggs and dairy products, and have sufficient exposure to sunlight to produce vitamin D naturally is really important. However, in many regions and during certain seasons, it might be challenging to get enough sunlight, meaning dietary sources and supplements are important for maintaining vitamin D levels.

So why is Vitamin A important for children?

Vitamin A is crucial for children for several important reasons,

Vision and Eye Health

Vitamin A is essential for maintaining eye health. It is a critical component of rhodopsin, a protein in the eyes that allows them to detect light. Vitamin A levels help prevent vision related issues.

Immune System Support

Vitamin A plays a key role in supporting the immune system by maintaining the health of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urinary tracts. These barriers help protect the body from infections.

Growth and Development

Vitamin A is vital for the proper growth and development in children. It supports cell growth and differentiation, which is necessary for the development of organs and tissues, including the heart, lungs, kidneys and bones.

Skin Health

Vitamin A is important for maintaining skin health, it helps in the production and function of skin cells, contributing to the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier.

Vitamin A can be found in both animal and plant-based food:

Animal sources:

  • Liver
  • Fish Oils
  • Dairy products
  • Eggs

Plant Sources:

  • Carrots
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Spinach and leafy greens
  • Red bell peppers
  • Mangoes
  • Apricots

By including a variety of these foods in their diet, children can receive the necessary amounts of Vitamin A to support their overall health and development.
