Jointmax is a combination product that combines Glucosamine Sulphate, Chondroitin Sulphate and Hyaluronic Acid, together with MSM, Turmeric and Astaxanthin.
As we age the body decreases its production of glucosamine and joint cartilage loses its elasticity, the joint itself becomes stiff and uncomfortable, potentially leading to the development of osteoarthritis. Hyaluronic acid also decreases as we age.
Glucosamine Sulphate, Chondroitin Sulphate and Hyaluronic Acid together form Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and are vital polysaccharides in the structural components of connective tissue, interstitial fluids and skeletal structure. Cartilage is constantly undergoing breakdown and repair by the body. Glucosamine and chondroitin are the building blocks for repair of cartilage. GAGs are linked together with disulphide bonds obtained from sulphur in MSM (methylsulphonomethane). MSM contains over 30% sulphur and can deliver sulphur to the joints in a useable way, forming cross-links in connective tissue, thereby strengthening the tissues of the joint. For centuries, arthritis sufferers have sought out natural bathing waters that have a high sulphur content.
Turmeric has been shown to stop the production of inflammatory cytokines, tumour necrosis factor alpha, interleukins and other inflammatory chemicals. Astaxanthin is a powerful carotenoid found in algae that, due its structure allows it to attach to free radicals that can cause oxidative, cellular damage. Hyaluronic Acid is found in synovial fluid increasing its viscosity. It is an important component of articular cartilage and forms a coat around each chondrocyte cell. It is responsible for the transportation of nutrients into the cell and the removal of waste products particularly from those cells in the body which lack a direct blood supply, typically articular cartilage.
