What is Bladderwrack (Fucus)?

Metabolics Bladderwrack species Fucus Vesiculosus, is a brown seaweed found on the North Sea coast. It is a natural source of Iodine. Two of the constituents of Bladderwrack are Alginic acid, a natural dietary fibre that forms a viscous gum when hydrated, and mucilage, a polysaccharide that produces a gel-like mass, which can soothe and protect irritated tissues in the body.

What is Bladderwrack good for?

Each capsule of Metabolics Bladderwrack contains over 500% NRV Iodine. Iodine supports the Thymus gland and is essential for the production of white blood cells. Iodine is an essential component of the Thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid hormones regulate many important biochemical reactions, including protein synthesis and enzymatic activity. Iodine therefore contributes to your normal energy yielding metabolism.

In addition to this, Iodine contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to the maintenance of normal skin and normal cognitive function.

Bladderwrack contains natural dietary fibre, which helps to support regular bowel movements. It also contains Fucoidin, which demonstrates antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties (Mayer, Rodriguez, et al, 2005-2006).
