What is Elderberry Immune Support?
Metabolics Elderberry Immune Support is formulated to contain various ingredients that support the functioning of the immune system.
Its three core ingredients are:
- Elderberry extract
Elderberries are the fruit of the Sambucus tree. The most common type is the Sambucus nigra. The tree has clusters of small white or cream elderflowers and bunches of small blue or black elderberries.
Elderberries contain beneficial flavonoids, which are plant-based phytochemicals that are known to possess antioxidant properties. Antioxidants fight against cell-damaging free radicals in the body.
Zinc Ascorbate combines Zinc with Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) to provide a highly bio available form of this mineral that plays a key role in immune function.
N Acetyl Cysteine (also known as NAC) is a plant antioxidant naturally found in Onion. It is a source of the amino acid L-Cysteine which is the precursor to the antioxidant glutathione. NAC has good bio availability. Foods high in glutathione precursors are broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus. Vegetables with a high sulfur content yield naturally high glutathione levels.
What is Elderberry Immune Support good for?
Elderberry has the ability to support the regulation of Cytokine levels in the bloodstream, of which these are the key signalling molecules in the immune system that enable it to respond quickly and efficiently. Elderberries Sambucus nigra support the body´s defence by helping to support the immune system. They help protect against oxidative stress, containing naturally occurring antioxidants, which help protect you from free radicals that can cause cell damage.
Zinc and vitamin C are well known to support a range of bodily functions and play an important role in supporting the immune system.
Vitamin C contributes to:
- normal collagen formation and the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth
- normal energy-yielding metabolism and the normal functioning of the nervous system
- normal psychological function
- normal function of the immune system
- the protection of cells from oxidative stress
- the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E
- increased iron absorption
Zinc contributes to:
- normal DNA synthesis, acid-base metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, cognitive function, fertility and reproduction
- macronutrient metabolism, metabolism of fatty acids, metabolism of vitamin A and normal protein synthesis
- the maintenance of normal bones, hair, nails, skin, testosterone levels in the blood and normal vision
- the normal function of the immune system
- the protection of cells from oxidative stress
- the process of cell division
NAC produces its beneficial effect by supporting the natural antioxidant systems and the inflammatory response in the body.
