What is Petabolics Biotin Liquid?

Petabolics Biotin (with potassium carbonate) Liquid is an effective source of biotin for animal nutrition. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin that serves as a vital cofactor for enzymes such as acetyl-CoA, propionyl-CoA, β-methylcrotonyl-CoA, and pyruvate carboxylase. These enzymes play crucial roles in synthesising fatty acids, breaking down branched-chain amino acids, and facilitating the gluconeogenic pathway. Additionally, biotin might influence gene expression by interacting with nuclear histone proteins, potentially impacting regulatory mechanisms within cells.

Biotin is primarily found in liver, kidney, egg yolk, and select vegetables like soya beans, nuts, spinach, and mushrooms. Liver typically contains about 1 mg/kg of biotin. Lean meat, fruits, cereals, and bread generally contain biotin in the range of 0.01–0.20 mg/kg, with lentils containing up to 1 mg/kg. In vegetables, green plants, and fruits, biotin is present in a water-soluble form, while it exists as less bioavailable bound complexes in yeast and animal products. Raw egg white contains avidin, a protein that binds biotin and inhibits its absorption, but this protein is deactivated by heating. We have formulated Petabolics Biotin (with potassium carbonate) liquid using raw materials released against established monographs.

We have independently chemically tested our biotin to confirm its identity and then manufactured our Petabolics Biotin (with potassium carbonate) Liquid using highly purified water produced using reverse osmosis (RO) technology.

Who is Petabolics Biotin (with potassium carbonate) liquid for?

Petabolics Biotin Liquid is formulated to support the skin and coat health of dogs, cats and horses, but biotin has been authorised for use for all animal species as a nutritional additive.

Why use Petabolics Biotin (with potassium carbonate) liquid for?

Biotin is important for many aspects of your animal’s health. Biotin significantly contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and coat while also serving crucial functions contributing to the normal functioning of the nervous system. It also supports normal psychological function and maintaining normal mucous membranes. Additionally, it facilitates the body's utilisation of glucose for energy. Biotin is essential for the function of critical enzymes involved in metabolism. A deficiency in biotin can impair the synthesis and metabolism of long-chain fatty acids, which are crucial for maintaining skin integrity. Studies have shown that biotin supplementation can be beneficial in treating certain clinical skin conditions in dogs, resulting in demonstrated improvements in dogs with fur and skin conditions such as dull coat, brittle hair, hair loss, scaly skin, itching, or dermatitis. Biotin, is also a commonly identified nutrient for improving hoof quality in horses. B vitamins, including biotin, are synthesised by microorganisms in the digestive tract as a result of fermentation. In a healthy digestive system, horses typically produce enough biotin to maintain hoof condition. However, if the supply of fibre is limited or the gut environment is not optimal for bacterial function, the production of B vitamins, including biotin, may be reduced. Poor hoof condition can often indicate an unhealthy digestive system, and horses in this condition may benefit from the addition of biotin.
